Club Coaches and Officials

To function as a club we need a pool of committed and qualified coaches. Our coaches have been through various courses organised by Scottish Athletics, and some have come through the ranks as athletes.

Dave Law
UK Athletics Level 3

Mondays & Wednesdays

Dave is well known in East Scotland as an very useful distance runner  and coach with Corstorphine Athletic club. Dave started coaching Harmeny Juniors in 2005

Robyn Hewat
UK Athletics Level 1
Mondays/ Wednesdays

Robyn joined Harmeny as an U13 and was a member of the club's U13 4x100m relay squad that won bronze at the Scottish Junior Championships and the U15 SportsHall team that was second in the South Central Scotland Finals.Started helping in 2005 whilst at School and completed level 1 in 2007.

Gail Crosbie
UK Athletics Level 1
Wednesdays

Gail started coaching in 2007 whilst attending with her daughter, although she has been coming along to run with the Pentland Runners  for a couple of years. In 2008 Gail competed in her first triathlons, and also won the Pentland Runners handicap medal in the Riccarton 5k

Monday Adult Enduracnce Thursdays (Saughton)

Bob got involved with Harmeny through his daughter. He started coaching regularly at Saughton in 2003 and at Balerno HS (work permitting). He has won a couple of Scottish Masters titles and a New Year Sprint Masters title.

Roddy MacLeod
Student Helper

Roddy is one of our youngest Championship Medallists having won brone in the U13 4 x 100 relay in 2003. In 2008 Roddy has made the transition from athlete to junior coach.

The officials who run events in Scotland are often overlooked, but if it wasn't for them, there would be no events!

  June Duffy
UKA Level 5 Starter / Marksman

Like many club stalwarts, June first got involved through her daughter and coached before becoming a track official. June is a regular at League meetings and Scottish Championships, and having graduated to the top level is now officiating at UK events.

UKA Timekeeper

Another Parent who got involved thorough his douhgter, Paul answered a plea for more officials and has been a timekeeper at many of the track meetings we attend and also for Edinburgh Schools events. Paul is also club treasurer and regularly tekes the register on Monday evenings

  Ian Hislop
Cross-Country / Road race

Ian is part of the team who organise the East District Cross-Country League and has helped organise several East District Championships. He is also a regular at Portobello on New Year's Day. Ian was a pretty useful runner in days gone by and represented the club on the track and on the green muddy stuff.
