jogscotland

jogscotland is a national programme funded by the Health Education Board of Scotland (HEBS), sportscotland and Scottish Athletics to establish a network of jogging groups that beginners and improvers can join. In June 2002 Harmeny AC / Pentland Runners set up one of the first club based groups in Balerno, and we have run a couple of groups since.

The jogscotland programme is an instructor led course of about 10 - 13 weeks which aims to improve a runners capability and confidence. The national scheme provides guidance at varying ability levels (beginner, Improver, advanced).

We only provide a programme for beginners, who start with am easy mix of walking & jogging which over the weeks steadily increases   the jogging time.  Hopefully by the end of 10 - 13 weeks beginners will have improved sufficiently to about 15 - 20 mins slow & steady jogging and will join Harmeny Pentland runners and run with the improvers group.

We will run jogscotland groups on either Wednesday evenings or Sunday mornings., depending on there being sufficient demand to set up a group.

On joining the programme, you  receive a training / information log-book and a jogscotland T-shirt. The total cost of the programme will be £30:
£15 to jogscotland to cover the cost of the materials supplied,
£15 to Harmeny Athletic Club.

The jog-leaders for this programme are Anne and Bob Douglas (449-6105).

Pentland Runners is the the road running  / recreational running wing of Harmeny Athletic Club.
